Roy Everett Stewart, 88, of Brazil died at 7:40 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, 2006, at Clay Health Center in Brazil.
He was born Aug. 1, 1918, in Seelyville, Ind., as the son of Marvie O. and Edna Walton Wilson. Following high school he entered military service with the U.S. Army and served in Europe during World War II where he suffered injury during the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium. He married Mildred Irene McCall in Terre Haute on March 27, 1937.
Roy was employed at the clay plants in Brazil for several years and then worked in commercial construction until his retirement. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Moose Lodge and enjoyed woodworking in his free time.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Roy E. Stewart Jr. and Richard Lee Stewart; two sisters, Opal Reynolds and Mary Winn and two brothers, Clyde Wilson and Raymond Wilson.
He is survived by his wife Mildred Irene Stewart; two sons, Terry Ray Stewart and wife, Susan, of Wabash, IN and Gene Stewart and wife, Judy, of Terre Haute; daughter-in-law Sheralyn "Sherri" Stewart of Brazil; sisters Betty Fowler and husband, Jim, of Clayton, IN, Thelma Wilson of Terre Haute and Anna Killion of Terre Haute; brother Marvie W. Wilson and wife, Lavon, of Middletown, Ohio, and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19th at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Pippin officiating. Burial will follow at Bee Ridge Cemetery. Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Vista Care Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
