Karen K. Keiser, 62, of Clay City passed away unexpectedly Sept. 25, 2006, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital following heart surgery.
She was born July 3, 1944, in Clay County the daughter of James Tiefel and Thelma Ell Tiefel. She graduated from Clay City High School. She was had worked as a teller at First Financial Bank for the past 15 years. She was a member of the Clay City VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was a devoted wife, mom, and grandma and was known affectionately as "Grandma Willie".
Survivors include her mother, Thelma Tiefel, of Clay City; her husband, Ken Keiser, also of Clay City; two daughters, Kathy Hartman and husband, Timothy, of Dana, Ind., Kristy Griffith and fiancé, Jeff Hayes, of Bloomington; one son, Jay Schlegel, and wife, Becky, of Cory; eight grandchildren, Katie Hartman and fiancé, Dave Shuckhart, Kelsie Hartman, Jessica Hill, Candice Hartman, Kylie Griffith, Morgan Griffith, Austin Schlegel, and Brylie Schlegel; one great-grandchild, Drake Hill; one brother, Vic Tiefel, and wife, Wanda, of Brazil and one sister, Bonnie Lell, and husband, Jim, of Clay City; several nieces and nephews and extended family.
At her request, cremation will take place. A Celebration in honor of her life will be held Thursday, 5-8 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 610 Washington St. Clay City, Ind. The family invites all who knew Karen to join in this time of sharing memories.
