Jane Brattin Zeller Maurer, 91, of Brazil died at 11:55 p.m. Friday, September 29, 2006, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

She was born June 19, 1915, in Indianapolis as the daughter of John Herr and Lucy Brattin Zeller. Following graduation from Brazil High School with the Class of 1933 she attended DePauw University where she graduated with Cum Laude honors with the Class of 1937. She worked as a secretary in her husband's medical practice but spent most of her life as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed golf with friends, playing in her bridge club for 55 years and reading. She was a volunteer at Clay County Hospital. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and Tri Kappa sororities and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Brazil.

In 1946 she married Dr. Robert Marion Maurer, M.D. who has preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, John H. Zeller and an infant sister, Harriet Zeller.

She is survived by one daughter, Susan Hicks and husband Don of Sleepy Hollow, Illinois; one son, John Maurer and wife Martha of Brazil; grandchildren Karen Susanne Fettes and husband Steven of Camp LeJune NC, Robert Clayton Hicks and wife Dena of Aurora, Illinois, John David Maurer of Las Vegas, Nevada and Emily Michelle Maurer of Brazil; great grandchildren Logan Kade Fettes, Lauren Gabrielle Fettes, Luke Riley Fettes and Clayton Don Hicks, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Gary Scroggins officiating. Burial will follow at Cottage Hill Cemetery.

Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Clay County YMCA.
