Ruby White, 88, of Brazil, passed away at 6:52 a.m., October 17, 2006, at St. Vincent Clay Hospital, in Brazil. She was born May 7, 1918, in Clay County, to Mary Rhoda Archer Riggs and John Thomas Riggs. November 9, 1940, she married Raymond White, he preceded her in death in 1993. She was a member of the Brazil First United Methodist Church. Ruby was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed cooking, canning, and vegetable gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rhoda and Thomas Riggs; husband Raymond White; a son Larry White; brothers George Riggs, Tom Riggs, Glenn Riggs, and Leroy Riggs; sisters Nina Davis, Nelda Acrea, and Mildred Johnson.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Charles Toney, of Brazil, daughter-in-law, Linda White; two brothers, Luther Riggs and wife, Jean, of Brazil and Jack Riggs of Terre Haute; sisters-in-law Betty Riggs and Helen Riggs; brother-in-law and sister- in-law Jerry and Judy White; sister-in-law and brother- in-law Marjorie and Bill Talley, and sister-in-law Marguerite Harden; grandchildren, Lee Toney and wife, Holly, of Brazil, Lori Mayle and husband, Mike, of Brazil, Larry White and wife, Lisa, of Brazil, Lonnie White of Brazil, Loren White of Brazil, Lana Mimms and husband, James, of Terre Haute; great-grandchildren, Shelby and Hunter Toney, Mara and Macy Mayle, Tyler White, Danielle White, Shealyn Meadows, Jared and Alex Mimms; step grandchildren Shari Kelty and Jay Toney; as well as many nieces and nephews and a large extended family.

Pallbearers for Mrs. White will be Lonnie White, Larry White, Loren White, James Mimms, Lee Toney, Mike Mayle, and Kevin Smith.

Services for Mrs. White will be at French Funeral Home, Friday October 20, 2006, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Tony Alstott officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
