Edward D Staley, 73, of Clay City passed away Monday, October 16, 2006, in the Bloomington Hospital.
He was born February 23, 1933, in Clay City to Ernest and Verta Harbaugh Staley.
He was a 1952 graduate of Clay City High School and served in the U.S. Navy Reserve from 1951 until 1959. He was a farmer and also had worked at Arketex, as a school bus driver for Clay Community Schools and retired from Romas Trucking. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Clay City, Indiana Farm Bureau, was an avid gardener, and enjoyed his grandchildren and playing euchre. Survivors include his wife, Norma Meyer Staley; two sons, Randy Staley and wife Nancy of Clay City and Rick Staley and his wife Marianne of Henderson, TN; two daughters, Rita May and husband Don of Lexington, KY and Rhonda Rasor and husband James of Avon, IN; a brother, John Staley and wife Nancy of Coal City; a sister, Sue Grafe and husband John of Clay City; an Uncle, Solon Staley and wife, Myrtle of Clay City; 14 grandchildren, Jennifer Staley of Indianapolis, Kristen Staley of Clay City, Larissa Staley of West Lafayette, Ricky Staley Jr. of Cookeville, TN, Billy Staley of Chattanooga, TN, Michael Staley of Bowling Green, KY, Julianne Staley of Hendersonville, TN, Joey Staley of Hendersonville, TN, Danny Staley of Hendersonville, TN, Matthew Staley of Hendersonville, TN, John Rasor of Avon, IN, Jena Rasor of Avon, IN, Jeremy Rasor of Avon, IN, and Joel Rasor of Avon, IN, and a large extended family.
Services will be 11 a.m., Friday, October 20, 2006, in the Church of Christ in Clay City.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, October, 19, 2006, in the Schoppenhorst Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until services on Friday in the church.
Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery.
