Live Christmas music coming Sunday nights

The Brazil Community Choir will be presenting a concert of Christmas favorites each Sunday night in the month of December at various churches in the area.

Locations are:

Sunday, 6 p.m., Carbon Baptist Church, 14100 N. Murphy Road.

Dec. 8, 6 p.m. Rio Grande Baptist Church, 4411 E. Rio Grande Ave., Terre Haute.

Dec. 15, 7:30 p.m., Berea Christian Church, Co. Rd. 800 N., Brazil.

Dec. 22, 6 p.m., Brazil First Church of the Nazarene, 1002 E. National Ave.

The Brazil Community Choir, under the direction of Sam Glover, was formed in the summer of 2002 and presented their inaugural performance "I Believe in America", at the Brazil Rotary Club's 4th of July celebration. More than 40 voices strong, the choir has an open membership for anyone who wishes to use their God given vocal talents to bless the community.

The Christmas program, will consist of arrangements of Christmas songs, such as "Carol of the Bells", "O Come All Ye Faithful", "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day", "What Child is This", and "In the First Light" among others. Featured soloists are Kandace Brown, Sam Glover, Lori Smith and Charlotte Walls as well as a special appearance by Britteney Ledford. Ron Maurey is the accompanist for the choir.

The concerts are free to the public. Persons attending are asked to bring an item of non-perishable food to be donated to one of the food pantries serving Clay County.
