The Sinfonietta Symphonic Pops Orchestra will begin its 13th musical season on Sunday, beginning at 3 p.m. at the Scottish Rite Cathedral Auditorium located at Eighth and Ohio streets in Terre Haute.
The theme for this concert will be "Colorama-A Musical Rainbow". There will be a number of compositions that will contain 11 different colors in their titles. Various colors will be about a particular color such as Orange Blossom Special and The Pink Panther or colors that may suggest a mood such as St. Louis Blues and White Christmas.
To augment this color theme the 55 members of the orchestra in addition to their usual formal wear will be wearing various colors on their uniforms.
David Vollmer, director of the Swope Art Gallery, will narrate the program. He will introduce such numbers as the New Harmony Barbershop Quartet, The Patti Willey Academy of Dancers, and the appearance of instrumental and singer soloists.
Tickets are available at the Conservatory of Music, Popejoys Music Store and Adamson's Fabric Care, Brazil. Tickets will also be sold at the box office of the Scottish Rite in the afternoon of the program. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12.
