Deck the halls with boughs of holly!

Even though Rich, Chris, Brittany and Allison Johansen are newcomers to Brazil, they gladly open their home to you during the Tri Kappa Home Tour from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Once inside 1053 Park Ave., your eyes are immediately drawn to the ceiling. Two pyramid-shaped skylights are the center of the great room. Not there when the family first moved in 18 months ago, the sky lights were added to let more lighting into the central room. They extend to the roof peak and have automatic blinds to filter the appropriate amount of sunlight. Pen and ink originals, watercolors, pottery and wall sculptures showcase their appreciation of art.

Another skylight in the kitchen highlights brick facing and natural wainscoting. A cushioned window seat in the breakfast nook is the favorite spot for the two Johansen cats.

Chris's favorite spot is the three-season room. Decorated with plants, wicker furniture and stained glass lamps, it overlooks the back deck.

The girls rooms are to the right of the guest room along with a connecting bath. The master suite is to the left and features two walk-in closets. The adjoining bath has a garden tub surrounded by white tile. A separate shower and double sink provide plenty of room for the couple to get ready.

A full finished basement displays Rich's love for photography. Framed and matted close-ups ranging from flowers to sports decorates the walls. In the center of the game room is a white billiard table with red velvet cover. A white player piano adds entertainment fun too. Also in the basement is a work room for photography projects, sewing, computer work and crafts. Double-wide stairs lead up to the garage.

A porch extends across the front of the 5,000 -square foot home. Made of rough dark brown brick and dark wood, the home has a split-rail fence, well-manicured landscaping and evergreens in front to welcome you.

Tickets for the Tri Kappa Home Tour are available at the Tri Kappa Boutique at the Fellowship Hall of First Presbyterian Church, at each of the homes on the tour or from any Tri Kappa member.
