John Philip Huber has been selected to participate in the 2003 Indiana Music Educators Association Honor Band. The concert will take place Jan. 11 in the Grand Ballroom of the Indiana Convention Center at 1 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
This is during the IMEA State Convention. Guest conductor is Dr. Jack Stamp, director of bands at Indiana University, Pennsylvania.
Huber is a sophomore at Greencastle High School where he is first chair euphonium in the Symphonic Band under the direction of Robert Hedge. Huber has earned First Division Honors three times in Group One on the State Level. In 2001, he performed with the John Philip Sousa National Honors Band in New Orleans.
Huber is also a member of the Classics (Greencastle show choir), Brazil Concert Band and the Jackson Township Community Band. He studies privately with Norman Hanson. After high school, he plans on studying music at Indiana State University. He is the son of Matthew and Melanie Huber of Brazil.
