Deck the halls ...... and the streets

Monday, December 16, 2002

A snowman, gingerbread house and many, many lights decorate the Beyers' yard at Lake Shore Estates.

There are Christmas elves living at Lake Shore Point. The Pat and Lisa Beyers family have a yard full of festive, colorful Christmas decorations.

There are snowmen, Santa, a nativity scene, stars in the trees and multicolored lights on just about everything that doesn't move. They also have a little elf house trimmed in blue lights with a CD player and provide Christmas music all evening long when they're home.

But the Beyers' provide more than aesthetic substance. They also give warm, soothing, nutritional fare to the drive-by visitors who venture out to take in the Beyers' vibrant Christmas display.

Pat, Lisa, and their four children give out hot chocolate, cookies and candy canes to their "guests".

Lisa smiled at her husband. "He's the biggest kid here," she said. "Pat spends weeks putting up the lights. Each year he has to add something. And ,of course, the kids pick up his enthusiasm."

Pat beamed looking about at his home and family. "We just love doing it," he said.

The Beyers' live at Lake Shore Estates off of U.S. 59 just north of Interstate 70. Turn east on Lake Shore Point Road, the north entrance to the addition. It's the third house on the left. You can't miss it.
