INDIANAPOLIS -- State Rep. Andy Thomas (R-Brazil) has been appointed to serve as ranking Republican member of the Local Government Committee by House Republican Leader Brian Bosma. Thomas recently began his first term serving District 44.
"It is an unbelievable honor to be named ranking member as a freshman legislator," Thomas said. "I am looking forward to serving in this capacity on such an important committee."
Bosma praised Thomas.
"Rep. Thomas will be a valuable addition to these committees," Bosma said. "I know he will serve them well, bringing his knowledge and insight to the consideration of new laws."
Thomas will also serve on the Judiciary and the newly-formed technology, research and development committees.
"Serving on committees is an additional way to protect and promote the interests of my constituents in District 44," Thomas said. "The state faces many challenges in the coming years, but I believe we can be productive and successful in adopting sound public policy that will build a better future for all Hoosiers."
The 113th General assembly will convene Jan. 7 for its 2003 legislative session.
