A two-car accident occurred on Murphy Avenue and US 40 intersection. The accident occurred at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday. Officer Marty Beasley (left) assesses the traffic situation, while Officer Andy Whittington (leaning in vehicle) gathers information from Tina Weber.

According to initial police reports, the cause of the accident was when Travis Nicoson stopped to let a vehicle driven by Alan Scherb exit the Phillips 66 gas station lot. Weber, driver of the second vehicle, did not see the Scherb vehicle drive onto US 40. Weber then hit the Scherb vehicle. None of the occupants were injured. Whittington said there are many accidents in that area when people let drivers exit the gas station.
