For the second time in less than a week, a woman has been arrested for battery on a child.
Monday, Indiana State Police detectives arrested Amy N. Jackson, 20, of Brazil on one C felony count of battery resulting in serious bodily injury.
Jackson allegedly battered her two-month-old child on or about Dec. 22, causing the child to sustain severe head trauma, along with other possible long-term medical difficulties to the child.
The child was transported and admitted to an Indianapolis Children's Hospital for further medical treatment.
Jackson was arrested and placed in the Clay County Jail with bond set at $15,000, 10 percent allowable. She bonded out on Monday.
Indiana State Police were notified on Christmas day by the Clay County Division of Family and Children Services and have been actively working the case together since that time.
The other case, Anita S. Patterson, 23, was arrested on Dec. 26, following a call to police indicating that there may be a problem.
The 18-month-old child was removed from the home. Both the Brazil Police Department and the Child Protection Services continue investigating.
Patterson is in Clay County Jail on $7,000 bond.
