Expenditures for the Open Door lawsuit filed by David Wise were inaccurately reported by The Brazil Times.
Randy Burns, director of business affairs, broke down time and money spent with Indianapolis attorneys discussing the lawsuit and termination of the superintendent's contract.
So far, $30,854.06 in expenditures for the lawsuit have been accrued. But based on invoices, only $737.98 was actually billed for discussion of the superintendent's contract.
Burns said he prorated the bill by dividing the total number of 6,968.50 hours billed by 5.2 hours and averaged the hourly rate at $141.92. The 5.2 hours was from May 10, 17 and 20 that McKinney, Bose and Evans billed as discussion of the superintendent's contract, bringing the total sum billed solely for the purpose of discussion of superintendent contract termination to $737.98.
"It's not totally accurate because I don't know if the attorneys bill differently for different services and the bill was not completely broken down by their staff. It's probably not the best, but it is the most reasonable approach," Burns said.
The error was pointed out at the last school board meeting by Jon Hull, board president.
