Linda Moreau was unanimously chosen to head the Democratic Party in Clay County Tuesday night.
"We need focus here, and we need the people to know that Clay County is a moving county," Moreau said. "I guarantee I'll work hard for you."
Vickie Lawhorn, the vice chair, was required by party rules to step down since the chairperson and vice-chairperson cannot be of the same sex.
Lawhorn was unanimously voted to fill the secretary position.
Guy Dickerson was nominated and elected to fill the vice chair position.
Following the voting, Arthur said that Brazil was ready for a change in mayor, and he felt he was the person to rise to that challenge.
"The city wants to go forward, and I'm the person to lead that movement," Arthur said.
Following the caucus at city hall, an impromptu reception was held at the courthouse.
