Frigid winds buffet state

Thursday, January 23, 2003

By The Associated Press

A mass of cold arctic air and high pressure that brought below-zero wind chills blowing through the state is also expected to dump up to 14 inches of lake-effect snow on northern Indiana by tonight.

Brazil thermometers registered in below-zero territory this morning.

Temperatures won't creep above freezing until next week, the National Weather Service said.

Lows tonight will range from minus 5 to plus 5 degrees in the north to around 10 degrees in the south, but winds will taper off overnight.
