This weekend, 25 students traveled to Indianapolis to attend the Business Professionals of America state conference. Several students were successful in competitive events.

First place positions were earned by Kendall Miller in Graphic Design Promotion, Justin Boyd in Visual BASIC Programming, Derrick Bowman in Prepared Speech, and Chris Short in Human Resources Management. Short also placed 3rd in Advanced Interview Skills.

The team of Christina Chrisman, Robbie Miller, Curtis Ferguson, and Jason Short placed 2nd in Presentation Management. These students all will advance to the national competition in Dallas, Texas, at the end of April.

Students Amy Robbins received 5th in Advanced Interview Skills and Miller placed 5th in PC Servicing & Troubleshooting and received honorable mention. Robert James earned a CTA (Certificate of Technical Achievement) in graphic flyer. Jason Short ran a successful campaign and was elected as the state treasurer. His campaign manager was Shane Boyd. The organization is sponsored by Beth Moody with Kenda Dierdorf assisting.

The students enjoyed hearing motivational speakers, meeting new friends and electing new officers. Various fundraisers are being planned to help with expenses. Starting this week, community computer classes begin. For information on the classes, call Northview at 448-2661, ext. 1260.
