Older Hoosiers of the Wabash Valley who are interested in nutrition as an avenue to healthy living are invited to gather on Wednesday in their local dining site for the annual Nutrition Awareness Day event.
The key message for this year's event centers around the theme of "Healthy Eating, Healthy You". Presentations at each dining site will focus on choosing the right foods to meet nutritional needs by following the new food pyramid for older adults.
Those attending will dine on roast pork, garlic mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts, wheat roll, baked sliced apples and milk. Meals will be served at all 24 West Central Indiana Nutrition Program meal sites in Clay, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Vermillion and Vigo counties.
Anyone 60 years or older and their spouses are eligible for the meals program on a contribution/donation basis. Persons under 60 will be charged $3.25 per meal.
