Clay City Winter Guard qualifies for state finals

The Clay City Imperial Winter Guard qualified for the Indiana High School Color Guard Association State Finals Saturday at the IHSCGA State Preliminaries held at Center Grove High School in Greenwood, Ind.

The guard earned the right to participate in the IHSCGA State Finals for the first time since 1997 by placing in the top 12 out of 48 guards in Class B competition.

State finals will take place Saturday again at Center Grove High School. The Clay City guard performs in Class B at 1:56 p.m. Class B competition begins at 1:08 p.m. with Bishop Dwenger, followed by Woodlan, Anderson, Pioneer, Monroe Central, Maconaquah "B", CLAY CITY, Lawrence North "B", Bloomington North, Western, Southmont, and North Harrison. Awards for Classes B and A will be presented at 4:52 p.m.

The Clay City Winter Percussion qualified for the Indiana Percussion Association State Finals Saturday at the IPA State Prelims held at Avon High School in Avon. The group placed sixth out of 24 units in Class A movement competition to advance to the IPA State Finals for the third successive year. The IPA State Finals will be held March 22 at Decatur Central High School in Indianapolis. Performance times are not yet available. Clay City will compete this Saturday at 11:57 a.m. in the New Palestine IPA Contest.
