Supporting our soldiers

Tuesday, March 18, 2003

Christ Community Church Little Hearts four-year-old class made a care package to send to a classmate's father. Pictured from left are (front) Quinn Albright, Kaci Jones, Morgan Breitweiser, Jacob Latham (whose father, Larry, is stationed in Turkey), Jaycee McGinty, (second row) Rylee Pennington, Hollie Jones, Lucy France, Ezra John Fritz, Hayden France, Levi Herb, (back) Dylan Pennington and Samuel Grimes.

When Jacob Latham's daddy, Larry, was called to active duty in Turkey, the 4-year-old's Little Heart class at Christ Community Church decided to make a care package for him. They filled it with homemade cookies, cards and a construction paper prayer chain.

After three other members of the church were called to active duty, members decided they wanted to help military personnel and their families in the community.

Hearts In Service was formed to support them in prayer and any other way they could from hosting monthly support meetings to performing lawn mowing services, car and home repairs, sewing and cooking.

Pastor Tim Russell is asking for community help in finding names of military personnel and military families to add to the church's weekly prayer list.

A free support dinner for military families will be at 6:30 p.m. April 11 at the church. Christ Community Church is located 2 miles north of U.S. 40 on S.R. 59 on the east side. Please call 443-0423 by April 4 if you plan to attend so church members will know how much food to prepare.
