BPW's Reality Store teaches about life

Wednesday, March 19, 2003

The 11th annual Business and Professional Women's Club Reality Store will take place at North Clay on April 7. The Reality Store teaches 8th grade students about the importance of budgeting, saving for future, making wise educational and career choices and introduces them to check writing experiences.

Co-chairs Mabel Kidwell and Kathy Deal have been working on the final details of the annual event and would like to invite anyone in the business or public sector that would like to work in one of the booths to contact Kidwell immediately at 442-6085. The booths range from family chance, banking, Uncle Sam the tax man, groceries, child care, transportation, clothing, and the ever popular Wheel of Fortune or Misfortune.

Many area business and professional people donate their time to manning a booth and enjoy interacting with the students for the day.

"It's fun and easy to work in the booths. We'll provide everything for our volunteers and they get to have the joy of talking and helping the kids go from booth to booth," said Deal. Brazil Business and Professional Women Club has been doing this project since 1992 which was awarded a Clay County Focus Award in Education in 2001.
