Nine Brazil National Guardsmen were activated Monday, according to Indiana National Guard Public Affairs Officer Major Sara Hall.
The nine members of Company B of the 38th main support battalion of the Brazil unit will become attached to Company A of the 113th support battalion which is headquartered in Muncie, Ind.
As the numbers of the 113th were looked at, when they received orders for support in Operation Enduring Freedom, it was determined that nine more soldiers were needed to fill the slots, Major Hall reported.
The troops were sent to Camp Attebury near Indianapolis for pre-mobilization. They will be mobilized some time next week to Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
It's possible the 113th could eventually be deployed overseas, according to Major Hall, but that has not been determined as their actual mission is not yet known.
