A common complaint of Brazil residents is that there is nothing to do in this town. There is, however, at least one form of entertainment of which not too many people are aware.
The Crossroad Wrestling organization, or CRW, was started in Terre Haute about two years ago. Some of the wrestlers, most of whom are from different parts of Indiana, had previously participated in independent circuits where they met one another and decided to form their own association.
Ray Lincoln is the current world champion of CRW and Crossroad Kid is the junior title holder. Some of the other wrestlers include Colton Cash and ToXiK. All of Crossroad's wrestlers take the competitions quite seriously and they enjoy putting on a show.
And much like the more famous organizations, such as World Wrestling Entertainment, CRW's shows involve their share of drama and props besides the basic wrestling matches.
"We love it," said Cash, who also takes part in training new CRW talent. "You've got to love it to do it. We love to entertain people."
They will be having shows on Friday and May 9 in the former Brazil High School gymnasium. For both of these, the doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7. Admission is $7 per person.
Besides putting on shows in the gymnasium, the group practices twice a week at the old Brazil High School auditorium. They plan to have shows in the gymnasium every couple of weeks. They have also had venues in Ohio, Terre Haute and West Terre Haute.
All of the wrestlers must be trained in order to try out, according to "Mr. Knight," one of CRW's founders, and they are currently accepting trainees.
