So when the Utili-Com employee, who subcontracts with Charter Communications, decided to pop the question he said it in a way that Susan and the whole town could understand.
Saturday afternoon he drove Susan and their 11-month-old daughter, Kaitlin, to the Charter Parking lot. Shannon had put a message on the company's roadside sign that read: "SUSAN HUFFMAN WILL YOU MARRY ME SRP".
Then, beneath the sign, with Susan and Kaitlin in front of him, he got down on one knee, handed her a ring and asked Susan to marry him.
"I cried," said Susan. "From happiness. I was so surprised."
The 1997 Northview High School graduate quickly responded with a yes. No wedding date has been set but Susan said it will probably be in the fall.
When they begin working on the wedding plans, they'll certainly need to communicate. That shouldn't be a problem for Shannon.
