Cheyenne Sims enjoyed jumping from the diving board at the Forest Park swimming pool Monday. The 4-year-old was swimming with friends from the YMCA Day Camp.

The pool is open! The Forest Park swimming pool officially opened Saturday and will be open every day, weather permitting, from noon to 5 p.m.

Pool manager, Sara Osborn said they had to wait for the water temperature to reach 75 degrees. Rain or lightning, as well as pool temperature, could cause a temporary pool closing.

The first two-week swimming lesson session starts June 16. Available times are 10-10:30 a.m. and 10:45 -11:15 a.m. Cost is $35 for one child or $30 per child for two or more children. Sign up can be done at the pool now and up to the start of the first lesson.

Pool parties are also available. For more information call 446-2411.

Swimming on Monday was cool but it didn't chill the enthusiasm of the kids. Caitlin Stemm and Josey Parr said it was cold but they were still having lots of fun. Raz Simms gave up Harry Potter and basketball to go swimming.
