Tiny, open-wheel karts speeding around a track at nearly 100 mph, 11/2 inches above the ground.
If that sounds exciting, you should see it.
For more than a decade, the Brazil Rotary Club has sponsored the Southern Indiana Racing Association Kart Races in Forest Park. Saturday and Sunday the little engines with big horsepower will zoom around the asphalt track at the park.
Practice begins at 10 a.m. Saturday with racing from 3-5 p.m. On Sunday, races will begin at noon and end around 5 p.m. The public is invited to witness the little cars in a really big spectacle in racing.
Trophies will be awarded to the many classes on Sunday. Riddell National Bank sponsors the trophies and has supported the races for many years.
Clay County Search and Rescue will have a food and drink booth for the convenience of fans and participants.
The races, along with the Brazil Concert Band performance kick off the 68th annual, 2003 Rotary 4th of July Festival at the park.
The band, directed by Matt Huber, will perform Sunday at 8 p.m.
