ROCKVILLE, Ind. -- On July 4, the John Martin Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) will present a patriotic program on the Courthouse lawn in Rockville. Activities will start at noon, so attendees should bring lawn chairs and enjoy band music, patriotic singing by Brittany Ledford and a 13-gun salute by the VFW.
There will also be presentations about Gen. Washington at Valley Forge and a portrayal of Thomas Payne speaking on "The Revolution That Changed the World."
At 1 p.m., courthouse and church bells will toll 13 times in Rockville and in communities around America as part of the Let Freedom Ring National Bell Ringing Ceremony.
There will be a watermelon feast for all that attend. Join the fun and help the SAR and Rockville celebrate Independence Day and learn the history of the American Revolution.
