The Memory Garden at Northview High School has been completed. The memorial was constructed to honor all of the students who have died while enrolled at the school since the new building opened in 1988. The stone will also have the names of teachers and other personnel who died while employed at the school.
"It's to help kids remember to be cautious when they leave the school parking lot," organizer Linda Nicoson said. "Everyone of them is important."
The cost for the monument was about $3,500.
"We got the money in a week," Nicoson said. "So it must be something the community really wanted."
There were lots of donations. Many were of money. Others were supplies and labor.
"It was just unbelievable how people helped," Nicoson continued. "Teachers and people in the community , especially after graduation, came up to me and said how nice it was . I've not had any negative feed-back at all. It's been turned over to the Student Council and they'll take care of the Memory Garden from now on."
