The YMCA of Clay County hopes to give away a brand new, 2002, white, Pontiac Sunfire, Saturday, at its 16th Annual Golf Scramble. There will be an 8 a.m. shotgun start at the Forest Park Golf Course.
Brazil Autoplex president/CEO Marty Jaffe said a company representative will present keys for the automobile to the first golfer who hits a hole in one on the 11th hole during the scramble.
Registration should be done today at the YMCA. Entry fees are $50 per person and $200 per team.
Awards and lunch will immediately follow the event. Team awards are: Peoria Handicap, first place-$300, second place-$200. Low Gross, first place-$300, second place-$200. Special Skill Prizes are: Longest drive, Hole #1-$50; Closest to pin, Hole #5-$50; Longest Putt, Hole #14-$50; Hole in one, #11-WIN A CAR!
"The purpose of the scramble," said YMCA Board president Mike Dalton, "is to raise funds to provide financial assistance for YMCA memberships for people who could not otherwise afford to use the facilities. Currently about 20 percent of our patrons receive financial assistance."
Nancy Burkheiser, YMCA CEO added, "The policy of the Y is that no person will be turned away if they qualify for financial assistance."
