The Brazil Concert Band, under the direction of Matthew S. Huber, will perform twice this weekend with performances in Worthington this Saturday, July 12th for the Fred Jewell Band Jubilee and Sunday, July 13th back in Forest Park at Brazil.
On Tuesday, July 8th, the BCB will perform at 7 pm on the DePauw University campus in Greencastle at the Performing Arts Center.
The Jewell Jubilee, an annual event honoring Indiana's March King Fred Jewell, will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday with concerts by the Jackson Township Community Band. Bloomington Brass Band, Brazil Concert Band, the Greater Greenwood Community Band and a massed band to end the day.
Nationally known conductor/soloist/composer Robert P. Hills Jr. of Columbus, Ohio will once again be present as guest conductor throughout the day. Food will be furnished in the park pavilion. Lawnchairs are suggested for an enjoyable day of band music.
Besides Prof. Hills, the band directors will include professors Ed Holeman of Greenwood, Al Olson of Bloomington and Matthew S. Huber of Brazil and Jackson Township.
Back in Brazil for the regular Sunday night "concerts under the stars" series, the Brazil Concert Band will perform "Liberty Bell", "Foshay Tower Washington Memorial", and "The Invincible Eagle", all by Sousa.
Also, "Sons of the Brave" by Bidgood, "Mary Poppins" by Sherman, "Eroica" by Skornicka, "The Princess of India" by King, "New Friendship" by Jewell and "Trumpets Ole" by Cofield.
