Vigo County Lifeline will host their annual fundraising event, "Laughlines for Lifeline," featuring comedian Richard Bowden and the Electric Amish on Aug. 23 at 7:30 p.m. at Tilson Auditorium on the campus of Indiana State University.
The event is presented by ISU Center for Science Education.
Bowden hit Nashville in the fall of 1982 and met a songwriter named Sandy Pinkard. He had several hits and wanted to write with Bowden. It didn't work out. They started having too much fun making up stupid lyrics to their own songs, as well as others, and without really trying, they found themselves with a comedy act. It worked out. For lack of a better name, they called themselves "Pinkard and Bowden."
All proceeds will benefit Vigo County Lifeline. The not-for-profit organization is a 24 hour/7 day a week information referral/crisis hotline. Vigo County Lifeline also operates a food pantry network, child abuse hotline and a safe school hotline for Vigo, Clay and Vermillion counties.
