Golf event raises money for Clay County

Tuesday, July 22, 2003

Golfers enjoyed 18 holes of golf and raised funds for the Clay County Community Foundation at its annual Golf Event at Brazil's Forest Park Golf Course on June 28.

More than 40 local businesses supported the fundraiser by sponsoring holes or teams and/or by donating gifts and prizes. Volunteers from the Elks Club, Clay County Lilly Scholars, the Clay County Community Foundation Board and others helped Gayla Thiemann, chairperson of the event.

Proceeds will be used for operating expenses allowing the Community Foundation to continue its work of benefiting the community.

The golfers enjoyed lunch, played golf, and carried off raffle prizes at the end of the day.

Y-96 Energy Radio broadcast from Forest Park Golf Course during the afternoon. Providence Medical Group served as the corporate sponsor for the event.

At the end of the day it was Clay County that benefited from this fundraising event.
