The Soil and Water District is hosting its Seventh Conservation Air Tour. The event is scheduled for Aug. 13 from 7:30 a.m. to noon, weather permitting, with flights originating from the Clay County Airport.
A donation of $20 per person for the flights will be accepted. There will be a maximum of two people in a plane in addition to the pilot. Reservations are due by Aug. 8 so accommodations can be made with the least amount of waiting time.
This air tour will provide the opportunity for Clay County land owners/operators to view conservation practices, drainage patterns, and crop conditions from the air. This aerial view may reveal the need for erosion control practices that would other wise may go unnoticed. The scars of the gully erosion are easily recognized, while the less obvious signs of sheet and rill erosion may show up as uneven crop growth. This is also a great opportunity to view what a good job you have been doing and pat yourself on the back.
Reservations are scheduled on a first come, first served basis, so call the SWCD office at 448-1108 ext. 3, now to reserve your flights.
