Habitat for Humanity of Clay County is preparing to start construction on their next Habitat home. The partner family is Wendy Farrell and her children, Chayna, 2, Meranda, 8 and Areyna, 11.
Farrell, who works at Riddell National Bank, is very excited about being chosen as the next Habitat home recipient. She and her family and friends will contribute a total of 200 hours of "sweat equity" in helping to complete the home. Farrell will be responsible for at least 100 of those hours.
A blessing of the ground was done Thursday evening at the construction site on North Leavitt Street. With Farrell and her family were friends, many of her church family from Christ Community Church and Habitat for Humanity of Clay County board members. The blessing was given by Pastor Tim Russell.
The lot will be cleared immediately for work to begin. The foundation may be laid by the end of the month. The goal is to have the structure closed in before winter. Completion date is undetermined at this time.
Anyone wanting to help Habitat with this project should contact construction supervisor Owen Youngblood at 835-3331 or 835-3431.
