The Brazil Concert Band, under the direction of Matthew S. Huber, will present "Hometown Pride" Sunday at 8 p.m. at the Forest Park Bandshell or Pavilion if rain.
"Hometown Pride" will include three marches written especially for the Brazil Concert Band namely "The Brazil Special" by J. Gus Davis, "The Pride of Brazil" by Stephen Kent Goodman, and "Forest Park Brigade" by Malinda Zenor.
The 146-year-old Brazil Concert Band, one of the oldest community bands in the United States, has garnered awards and accolades from local to international organizations. Its recent CD, "The Jewell of the Wabash" has been sold coast to coast and has made its way to several countries. The BCB has performed in Washington, DC, Disney World and New Orleans; and a trip to New York City is planned for 2004.
Guests of the BCB this Sunday will be the award winning Northview Marching Knights who will present their fall marching contest music. The Northview band is led by Robert Medworth and Peter Kikta. For years the high school band has finished in the top five at the State Marching contest in Indianapolis. They have marched in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
The Brazil Concert Band will present "IL Guarany" which is a Brazilian overture by Carlo Gomez, "1941" by John Williams, "The King and I" arranged by Bennett, "Supreme Triumph" by Jewell and "El Capitan" by Sousa.
The Jackson Township Community Band returns to the Indiana State Fair the 17th for Veterans' Day at the State Fair activities beginning at 11:00 a.m.
