Edward Weis II, 46, of Brazil was arrested Monday shortly after 9 p.m. Neighbors had called 911 to say a man was firing shots into an automobile at 10756 N. CR 25E, Brazil.
Weis was charged with Criminal Recklessness Armed with a Deadly Weapon, Class D Felony; Pointing a Loaded Firearm, Class D. Felony; Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon, Class C Felony; Carrying a handgun Without a Permit, Class A Misdemeanor; Criminal Mischief, Class A Misdemeanor; and Public Intoxication, Class B. Misdemeanor.
According to a sheriff's department press release, at about 9:06 p.m., the Clay County Enhanced 911 Communication Center received a call of a man with a gun destroying a car. It was also reported that the man was firing multiple shots from a handgun into a residential neighborhood.
Deputy Dan Best of the Clay County Sheriff Department and Officer Chris Blila of the Brazil Police Department arrived at the scene and were able to take the suspect into custody without incident. A 9 mm handgun was also found and taken into evidence.
The matter is being investigated by the Clay County Sheriff Department.
