Checking soil health

Leon Mercer, Byron Gough and Mark Evans present their program, "Better Soil=Better Yields," in order to explain soil pits and different types of soil to area farmers and landowners at The Clay County Soil and Water Conservation's Field Day at Mercer's Farm Monday afternoon. During the program, long-term no-till farmers,Mercer and Gough used the soil pit to obseve the soil health and discuss the improvements resulting in a higher yield. The afternoon also offered attendants a chance to see a variety of of conservation practices along with fertilizer test plots, planter set-up and maintenance for no-till.
