Collision leaves two trucks totaled

Thursday, August 28, 2003

Two pickups trucks were totaled in a collision on US 40 at the Knightsville Road intersection.

Robert Gilliam, of Poland, Ind., was traveling west on US 40 in his 1989 Chevy pickup late Wednesday afternoon. He failed to see a 1989 red GMC pickup driven by James T. Snyder, of Knightsville, who was also westbound on US 40 and attempting to turn left onto south Knightsville Road.

According to Clay County Deputy Sheriff Doug Barr, eyewitnesses reported that Gilliam's vehicle hit the back corner of Snyder's truck, causing it to spin full circle then roll over, landing on its top in the eastbound lane of US 40.

Barr estimated that the trucks were totaled, however, no injuries were reported. Snyder told the officer that he wanted to walk home to relieve stress resulting from the accident.
