Anderson given Crystal Apple

Staunton Elementary School Principal Jane Anderson received the Crystal Apple Award at Purdue University last Friday.

Staunton Elementary School Principal Jane Anderson received the Crystal Apple Award Sept. 19, at Purdue University.

The award is given by the Indiana Department of Education for distinguished service in education.

Staunton Elementary has received the Indiana 4-Star Award for high academics in English, language arts, math and attendance.

They also got the Indiana 2000 Award from the Department of Education, which was $25,000 to be used for restructuring.

Staunton recently received the Christa McAuliffe Award from the American Association of State Colleges and Universities. This award was for being a professional development school. Staunton is one of the 10 original schools.

Anderson said she felt the Crystal Apple Award belonged to the entire Staunton staff.

"It represents the whole school and the dedication and commitment of the staff to excellence," Anderson said.
