Clay County will share in more than $6.8 million affordable housing money to be distributed throughout the state.
The announcement was made Thursday by Gov. Joe Kernan.
"The awards made today will support a wide range of affordable housing needs in communities across the state," said Kernan. "Hundreds of Hoosier families will benefit from the safe, affordable and accessible housing these awards will support."
Forty awards were announced Thursday, impacting more than 356 homes around the state.
Clay City Senior Citizens Housing Inc. will receive an award of $526,750 in HOME Investment Partnerships Program funds to rehabilitate 33 rental units in Clay City.
Additionally, an application from the Clay County Commissioners was approved for Community Development Block grant funds. The $30,000 will be used for a housing needs assessment to determine the extent of need for affordable housing and to unify the county's effort to ensure appropriate housing for all residents.
