Local celeb to play ISU

Thursday, October 16, 2003

TERRE HAUTE -- The Sinfonietta Pops Orchestra will open its 14th season with local celebrities.

Superintendent of Vigo Schools Dan Tanoos will narrate the program.

Tammy Schaffer will bring her dancers from the All-Star Productions to appear in four numbers with the orchestra. The Terre Haute Childrens Choir under the new direction of Dr. Todd Sullivan will present three numbers.

WTHI weather forecasters Kevin Orpurt, David Wire and Scott Lighty will perform with the Sinfonietta.

A Brazil celebrity in his own right plays with the orchestra regularly. Buz Burgess plays lead trombone in the orchestra.

The theme will be "Fairy Tales & Frolics" and the program will include music from Walt Disney, "Harry Potter" and "Lord of the Rings".

The concert is scheduled Nov. 16 at 3 p.m. in the Scottish Rite Cathedral Auditorium, corner of 8th and Ohio streets.

Admission will be $10 for adults and $5 for children under age 12. Tickets are available at Adamson's Laundry.
