A single-car accident in Clay County occurred at 8:38 p.m. Friday night, entrapping one person in the car. Wanda Staultz and John Burger, ages 46 and 30, were westbound on CR 250 when they ran off the road on the right side, hitting part of a bridge. Burger, the car's passenger, had to be removed from the vehicle. The report says that a witness saw Staultz, the car's driver, exceeding the speed limit prior to the wreck.
In a separate incident, two West Terre Haute residents were killed Friday evening at the intersection of U.S. 150 and Pennington in Vigo County.
Indiana State Police say a vehicle driven by Jerry K. Shell, 43, of West Terre Haute was northbound on U.S. 150 when it turned in front of a southbound vehicle driven by Joe Sanguenetti, 43, also of West Terre Haute.
Shell and a passenger, Richard A. Jackson, 47, of West Terre Haute, were killed in the crash.
The driver of the other vehicle, Joe Sanguenetti, suffered chest injuries.
