- Brazil Resident wins prize from Habitat for Humanity
Max Underwood, from Brazil, won this years Habitat for Humanity of Clay County playhouse which was raffled off Oct. 5, at Forest Park during the Popcorn Festival. Funds from the raffle will be used to help build the next Habitat home.
Underwood bought his winning ticket at the Center Point Fish Fry. His children, Sarah, 11, and Mark, 7, were excited about the getting the playhouse.
"I thought it was really neat," said Sarah. "We have a little table and chairs out there. We play in it sometimes even though we have to share it with the lady bugs right now."
Habitat for Humanity offers qualified families in the Clay County area a special opportunity to own their home with affordable monthly payments. The family helps pay for the home with Sweat Equity during construction.
Habitat is currently working on their 4th house. Wendy Farrell is the partner family. The home should be completed sometime next year.
