These are what is left of one of the three vehicles involved in a wreck on SR 59, south of Brazil on Friday afternoon. Three people were injured.

Three people were injured Friday afternoon in a three-car accident on SR 59, approximately 1/4 mile south of the Center Point road in a construction zone. The incident occurred around 1 p.m. Friday.

Injured were Carl E. Young, 48, and his wife, Melodye L. Young, 41, both of Clay City; and Lawrence M. Bently, 56, of Bowling Green.

The incident is being investigated by Clay County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Larry Pierce with assistance from Indiana State Police Sgt. Michael Heaton and State Trooper Kenny Rowan.

According to the police report, Bently apparently did not stop in time to avoid striking the Young vehicle's rear end. Young was stopped in traffic at the direction of highway workers. Also struck was a vehicle driven by Elmer Moyer, 84, of Lewis, Ind., who was not injured.

The injured drivers and passenger were transported to St. Vincent Clay Hospital.
