A cloud of sadness infiltrated the Republican Headquarters Tuesday night after the election results were tabulated and announced.

Only two Republicans were victorious.

Incumbents Pat Heffner and Jim Sheese retained their jobs for four more years.

"It's bittersweet," Heffner said about her win. "It's nice to know they wanted me back. But I'll miss Kenny and Janet. I can work with most anyone. It's a new term. I'll cooperate and work with them like I did the previous council."

The contagious smile and friendly demeanor of Sally Schutte made it difficult to believe that she didn't win.

"This was my first experience to run for office," she said. "I met a group of terrific people. I learned a lot. I'll be back. I may be the next Republican mayor candidate."
