Traffic stop results in meth arrest

Friday, November 14, 2003

At approximately 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, a traffic stop was conducted by Officer Dennis Archer and Kenny Hill of the Brazil Police Department.

Brazil Police Department K9 Officer Todd Stemm and the dog Hunter arrived on the scene and Hunter made a positive indication on the suspect vehicle, for the presence of drugs. A search of the vehicle uncovered a large quantity of methamphetamine (approximately 70 grams), marijuana and paraphernalia.

The driver of the vehicle, Tom Borders, and three passengers were arrested and jailed for various criminal offenses.

Tom Borders, 41, of Brazil was charged with possession of methamphetamine over 3 grams, dealing methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and reckless possession of paraphernalia.

Tabatha Golden, 26, of Brazil was charged with reckless possession of paraphernalia and visiting a common nuisance.

Brent Jeffries, 44, of Brazil was charged with felony possession of marijuana and visiting a common nuisance.

Harriet Navel, 46, of Brazil was charged with possession of marijuana, reckless possession of paraphernalia and visiting a common nuisance.

Pending further review, more charges may be added. These arrests would probably not have been made without the K9's presence.
