Zachary D. Hyde, 32, of 909 S. Leavitt St., was arrested and charged Saturday with the crimes of manufacturing and possession of methamphetamine and possession of precursors.
According to Brazil Police Chief Terry Harrison, at 2:10 p.m. Saturday, the department received a complaint of a strong odor coming from the area of 904 S. Leavitt. When police responded, they could smell the odor, too, inside the home. Officers received permission to search the premises.
During the search, an apparent methamphetamine lab and precursors were discovered inside the residence. The Indiana State Police Lab team was called to the scene and confirmed the existence of the working lab. The team then cleaned up the site.
