The Brazil Police department will provide free firearm safety kits to the community.
The kits are provided through a campaign by the National Shooting Sports Foundation and a U.S. Department of Justice grant.
Safety kits may be obtained at the Brazil Police Department, any time of day. "We encourage parents who own firearms to get a safety kit, so that they may store their firearms safely, away from children," said Chief Terry Harrison. "Even if you do not have children at home, maybe you would have children visiting at some point. So, we would encourage you to get a safety kit."
The kits, offered free of charge through this program, contain a cable-style lock and a safety booklet. Officers can demonstrate the proper installation of locks.
Due to limited supplies, families are encouraged to take no more than two locks per household.
