The 38th Support Battalion (Main), headquartered in Terre Haute, Ind., is being mobilized for active duty Jan. 23, according to Captain Lisa Kopczynski, a spokeswoman for the Indiana National Guard.
Soldiers from this battalion are from Brazil as well as Terre Haute, Indianapolis and Seymour.
Unit personnel are ordered to active duty in their current grades and positions for an initial period of up to 18 months mobilization.
Unit members will report the third week of January to their mobilization station at Camp Atterbury located in Edinburgh, Ind.
"The battalion will be involved with Operation Noble Eagle," Kopczynski said. "Operation Noble Eagle is part of the continental United States portion of the global war on terrorism. The 38th will not be going into the combat theater of Iraq or Afghanistan.
"Like all missions, however," Kopczynski added, "everything is subject to change due to the mission's requirements.
