It's Girl Scout Cookie Time! Tracie Watson, of the Service Unit of Clay County, said orders are being taken now until Jan. 24. The cost is $3.00 a box and should be delivered the week of Feb. 17.
There's a new cookie this year, called the Piñata. It's chock full of flavor waiting to break out. The graham cracker flavored cookie has a creamy icing on the bottom. Filled with a lucious jam bursting with strawberry flavor, topped with cinnamon crumb and a white sugar glaze, the cookie teases the tastebuds tasting like strawberry cheesecake.
All of the old favorites are still available. Besides the new Piñatas there's Shortbread, Peanut Butter Patties, Peanut Butter Sandwich, Carmel DeLites, reduced fat Lemon Pastry Cremes, Animal Treasures and the very popular Thin Mints.
Money made from the cookie sale helps to support the Covered Bridge Girl Scout Council throughout the year. This Council is responsible for both organizing and maintaining the quality of Girl Scouting in 14 counties. Besides seven Illinois counties, the covered Bridge Council includes Clay, Greene, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Vermillion and Vigo counties in Indiana.
Orders may be placed with any scouting member who is in Brownies, Jr. Cadets, Cadets or Seniors. They can also be placed with any scout leaders including: Co-Service Unit Leaders Chrisy Maccarone, 835-2126 and Lori Morris, 442-7563; Cookie Chair person of Clay County Sheri Stewart, 448-1413 or with Tracie Watson, 442-1114.
